Tended Symmetries
DURATION: 15’36” MEDIA: SOUNDSCAPE INSTALLATION YEAR: 2026 VENUE: Land + Sky Exhibition, Rancho Santa Clara del Norte, Oxnard, CA
Drawing from the natural beauty, engineered symmetries, and military-industrial wilds of the LA Basin, Tended Symmetries is a site-specific sound installation that maps the unseen architectures of the working landscape. Installed within the historic barn at Rancho Santa Clara del Norte, the piece explores the acoustic edges where organic pattern meets deliberate human care, weaving multi-channel rhythmic sound arrays, immersive field recordings, and spatial resonance to illuminate the ecotones of ranch and garden where stewardship meets natural order.
This 2-minute video excerpt offers a representative sample of the full 15 minute immersive experience. The visual sequence accompanying the soundscape features original paintings by Perri Lynch Howard.
